Channel Country
ScHoneyeater
Spiney-cheeked Honeyeater
by David Simpson
Even better than last year this country is blooming with rain falling directly in the Windorah area. The huge Eyre Basin fed by Channel Country rivers winding their way over the floodplains has had another terrific monsoon season and follow-up rains. Revel in the abundance with FTB.

Itinerary

Fly into Charleville on Day 1 with Qantas arriving after Lunch to your 4 star motel, amongst the Spiny-cheeked Honeyeaters and warm spacious air of Queensland. Night Charleville.

Day 2 we will explore the wonderful Charleville area including the recently flooded Warrego River, the Spotted Bowerbird's bower and the back roads that hold Orange Chats with luck. Then there is an optional Cosmo Stargaze that evening, well worth the viewing. Night Charleville.

Day 4 we cross the magnificent floodplains alive with Brolga, flocks of Budgerigar and Crimson Chats, many Major Mitchell Cockatoos and Southern Whiteface. First of 3 nights in Windorah.

Days 5 & 6 bring a trip out to Sandy Kidd's enormous station with plenty of Mitchell Grass Downs (best feed in the world), Mulga and giant spinifex grass we are sure to find Rainbow Bee-eaters, Chirruping Wedgebills, and Red-capped Robins.
