Beautiful Barrington Tops
Such a lovely experience is this trip that it is often requested and November is the perfect time for the cooler climes of these wild tops.
With 3 nights accommodated in Gloucester there is no moving in and out of motels and all food is included from the moment you step aboard the bus, except your nightly refreshments, if required, and the odd icecream in the afternoon.
Highlights of this four day trip are the Antartic Beech forest with soft tree ferns and ground covers of smaller ferns, mosses and lichens. Here Lyrebirds, Brush Turkeys, Eastern Whipbird, Bowerbird and Olive Whistler cohabitat. Even a rare Rufous Scrub Bird may appear.
Gloucester Falls has a short walk through Snow and Mountain Gums, one of the specialties of the Barrington area, turning to brown barrels and messmates, then wet eucalypt forest. Olive Whistle is the target bird.
Sphagnam moss swamp, such an usual environment cut by meandering channels of icy water filled with vivid green weeds. Rich in subalpine flora and completed by the the fabulous Flame Robin.
Peace and tranquility abound at Woko National Park, aborginal for either Boobook or Tawny Fromounth. We’ll watch the escarpment for a Peregrine Falcon, listen for the Wompoo Fruit-dove and strain the binos for a Russet-tailed Thrush, or Bassian.
