Spiney-cheeked Honeyeater

This country has been blooming for a few of years now, after rain falling directly in the Windorah area and the Mitchell grass set to be around for another couple of years. Birdlife has regenerated through successive breeding seasons. The huge Eyre Basin fed by Channel Country rivers winding their way over the floodplains has once again had another terrific monsoon season and follow-up rains. Revel in the abundance with FTB.


Fly into Charleville on Day 1 with Qantas arriving after Lunch to your 4 star motel, amongst the Spiny-cheeked Honeyeaters and warm spacious air of Queensland. a night in Charleville.

Day 2 Starts with a leisurely drive over the Warrego and Paroo Rivers with lots of birdwatching time to acclimatise to all the local birds such as Zebra Finches foraging in seeding grass and Mallee Ringnecks flying through magnificent River Red Gums. Night Quilpie.

Cooper Creek
Day 3 & 4 We explore the magnificent floodplains alive with Brolga, flocks of Budgerigar and Crimson Chats, many Major Mitchell Cockatoo and Southern Whiteface. 2 Nights Windorah.

Day 5 & 6 First there is a flight over the Diamantina River channels arriving in Birdsville. A bit of scouting the billabong and Diamantina River for Flock Bronzewings. 2 Nights Birdsville Pub.

Days 7 We’ll head back to spend time in the plentiful Windorah’s hot spots. Night in Windorah.

Day 8 Retracing our journey we have another chance to encounter Bourke’s Parrot, White-browed and Hall’s Babblers. Night in Quilpie.

Day 9 Returning to Charleville we will have a chance to visit further afield and an optional Billbies encounter in the evening. Night Charleville.

Day 10 Late morning return flights after our last prowl around the productive airport area
